Fake Tickets Warning

FIFA has begun to crack down on what it considers illegal ticket sales. In an effort to reduce the proliferance of fake tickets, they've worked with the New Scotland Yard in the UK to shut down resellers, or "touts." As this report from IOL indicates, tickets will not be printed until a few weeks before the tournament.

My advice is to avoid purchasing tickets from a third party online unless you have a solid trust and understanding with the third party. There is too much that can go wrong, and you will likely pay more than you need to. At past World Cups, buying tickets from scalpers outside the stadiums is almost always a possibility, and they are often sold at below face value for the matches between lesser teams. I intend to use this route as my backup if I am unable to win tickets through US Soccer's allocation.
