South Africa To Issue ‘Event Visas' for Soccer Fans

FIFA released a story outlining a plan by South Africa's Department of Home Affairs to issue event visas for fans traveling to the country for the Confederation Cup and the World Cup.

This isn't such a big deal because visas are not required for tourists staying less than 90 days. But it shows that the host nation is moving to accommodate World Cup fans. The DHA is adding support staff and, as indicated in the article, will be placing staff in foreign airports to aid in the flow through immigration. With increased numbers of tourists, it will be important to manage the lines and crowds.
